December 22, 2024 at 1:30 PM - December 28, 2024 at 3:30 AM @ Online event

Description

The InspiHER{Tech} V3.0 project, organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of SLTC, has emerged as a transformative platform, championing empowerment, innovation, and equal opportunity for female undergraduates in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and IT fields. Designed to bridge the gender gap in technology, this initiative aimed to inspire young women, equipping them with the confidence, skills, and creativity needed to thrive in modern technological and engineering landscapes. On the fourth day of InspiHER{CADMastery}, Session 04 stood out as a remarkable event, highlighting practical insights and expert guidance for participants. The session featured the esteemed guest speaker Ms. Shavindya Herath , who graciously joined as the guest speaker. Ms. Herath’s contribution was both inspirational and educational. She began by evaluating the exercises from Session 03, providing valuable feedback, and addressing common challenges faced by participants. This review set the stage for the session’s activities, which were tailored to deepen the understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). During her session, Ms. Herath explored various dimensions of AutoCAD, emphasizing its versatility across different fields. Key highlights of her presentation included: Ms. Herath delved into the fundamentals of 3D and 2D modeling, explaining how these tools are integral to designing complex structures and prototypes. She provided practical examples from industries such as architecture, automotive design, and product development, demonstrating the relevance of CAD in real-world applications. The session covered the application of AutoCAD in mechanical engineering, particularly for designing machine components and analyzing mechanical systems. Participants were introduced to workflows for creating detailed blueprints and engineering diagrams, essential for manufacturing and assembly processes. Ms. Herath compared AutoCAD with other prominent CAD software like SolidWorks, highlighting their unique features and use cases. She guided participants on how to choose the right tools for specific project requirements, fostering a comprehensive understanding of design software ecosystems. The session also touched upon AutoCAD Electrical, a specialized tool for creating wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, and other electrical schematics. Participants learned how these tools are used in fields such as robotics, electronics manufacturing, and systems design. Ms. Herath discussed the integration of AutoCAD with other software and platforms, showcasing its role in interdisciplinary projects. Real-world case studies illustrated how CAD tools streamline workflows in construction, urban planning, and digital prototyping. Her mentorship during hands-on exercises was equally impactful. Participants engaged in activities designed to reinforce their understanding of CAD principles, fostering a deeper connection between theoretical concepts and practical applications. Session 04 of InspiHER{CADMastery} was more than just a training module—it was a celebration of empowerment, learning, and collaboration. The comprehensive insights into CAD applications, coupled with Ms. Herath’s dynamic guidance, provided participants with a well-rounded learning experience. As the participants continue their journey through InspiHER{CADMastery}, they are not only refining their technical abilities but also becoming part of a supportive community of innovative and ambitious women. These sessions are paving the way for them to make meaningful contributions to the world of STEM and IT, proving that with the right opportunities and mentorship, they can excel and lead in any field they choose. InspiHER{Tech} V3.0 continues to uphold its mission of transforming aspirations into achievements, fostering a generation of empowered women ready to redefine the future of technology and engineering. Finally, we were pleased to capture the perfect photograph, creating a lasting memory.
