The "Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Growing a Business Idea" session was an inspirational and educational event designed to ignite an entrepreneurial spark in the minds of its participants. This event, conducted for the first time through the collaboration of the IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapters of SLTC and SLIIT, provided a golden opportunity for individuals to explore the dynamic world of entrepreneurship under the guidance of a distinguished expert. Held on the 22nd of December 2024, the event commenced at 7:00 PM, with CodeChefs serving as the Digital Media Partner to ensure maximum visibility and engagement. The session began with a warm and interactive welcome speech, setting the tone for the evening. This opening address highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship in today's fast-evolving world and the role of such initiatives in fostering innovation and creativity. The welcome speech also introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Research at SLTC. As an accomplished academician and leader, Dr. Pahalagedara's presence brought invaluable insights into building and nurturing entrepreneurial ventures. The core of the event was Dr. Pahalagedara's session, which covered critical concepts of entrepreneurship and offered actionable insights on transforming innovative ideas into successful business ventures. He discussed key topics, including identifying marketplace opportunities, evaluating business potential, and overcoming common challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Attendees were provided with hands-on strategies for developing viable business ideas, creating value propositions, and building sustainable business models. Dr. Pahalagedara shared his experiences and the lessons he learned from the industry, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Following the presentation, a question-and-answer session allowed participants to interact directly with Dr. Pahalagedara.
