𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽: 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The Robotics Systems Engineering Workshop, hosted as part of the groundbreaking Y2NPro by IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, became a vibrant platform for fostering innovation and skill-building in robotics and technology. Held at Trace Expert City on the 6th of December 2024, from 9 a.m. onwards, this dynamic event brought together budding engineers, tech professionals, and renowned industry experts for a day of immersive learning and hands-on activities. Eng. Pramuditha Aravinda, Associate Software Architect at Zone24x7 Pvt Ltd, led the first session titled "Kickstart Robotics with ROS". Drawing on over 15 years of experience, including achievements in international robotics competitions and collaborations with NASA, Eng. Pramuditha provided an insightful introduction to Robotics Systems Engineering and the Robot Operating System (ROS). The session featured practical problem-solving demonstrations, inspiring participants to delve deeper into the realm of robotics. Following the morning session, participants explored Programming Fundamentals and Basic Electronics in a hands-on session led by Gavesha Labs. Experts like Mr. Randunu Kaushalya, Ms. Neranjana Rashmi, and Mr. Savindu Lakshitha guided participants through interactive activities using the innovative Gavesha Robo Kit. These sessions highlighted practical applications, including programming motors and IR sensors, culminating in an engaging task-based competition. The workshop's success was bolstered by strong collaborations with notable partners, including IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Chapter Sri Lanka, Zone24x7 Pvt Ltd, and Gavesha Labs Pvt Ltd, alongside support from Trace Expert City. Their contributions, highlighted through a dedicated video presentation, underscored the ecosystem's commitment to advancing technological innovation. The day concluded with a certificate award ceremony, recognizing participants and expressing gratitude to esteemed speakers. Special tokens of appreciation were presented to Eng. Pramuditha Aravinda and the Gavesha Labs team for their invaluable contributions. The event stood as a testament to the power of collaboration and the potential of young professionals to drive innovation in Sri Lanka’s tech landscape.
