The Med-Engi Committee 2024/2025 organized a workshop titled "How to Choose an MTS (Medical Technology) Research Topic" for the 22nd intake of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Moratuwa. This first session of the MedX competition aimed to guide students in selecting their MTS research topics by exploring diverse areas in medical technology. The session featured two distinguished guest speakers, Mr. Kithmin Wickramasinghe and Mr. Nima Wickramasinghe, who brought their expertise and practical experience to the forefront. They discussed potential research areas that medical students could explore within the domain of technology. Both speakers also shared insights from their projects, offering valuable examples of how technology can intersect with medicine to address pressing challenges in healthcare. The workshop not only outlined possible directions for research but also emphasized the importance of aligning research interests with current advancements and gaps in medical technology. The speakers inspired participants to think creatively and critically when identifying a research topic. The event concluded successfully with an interactive Q&A session. This provided attendees the opportunity to seek clarification, discuss ideas, and gain personalized advice from the speakers.
