MoraXtreme 9.0 , organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa , is a 12-hour hackathon open to undergraduates across Sri Lanka. The competition aims to elevate and encourage participants to compete in the IEEEXtreme Global Competition and serves as a pre-training platform for the IEEEXtreme contestants. In its previous edition, MoraXtreme was solely a 12-hour online hackathon. However, this year, the competition advanced to a two-stage format, for the first time in the history: 12-hour Online Elimination Round The Grand FInale: A 6-Hour Physical Hackathon Elimination Round Registrations opened island-wide on October 8, 2024 , and closed on October 17, 2024 . The event reached over 900 participant registrations in 350+ teams island-wide. The team guidelines & rules were structured in alignment with the IEEEXtreme global competition standards. The elimination round was held on October 19, 2024 , from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM via the HackerRank platform . By the well-executed plan of the Organizing Committee, the competition ran smoothly, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants. At the end of the elimination round, the top 10 finalists were selected to advance to the final round.
