Description

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter, University of Peradeniya, was held on July 10, 2024, via Zoom from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with over 35 members in attendance. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the outgoing chair, Mr. Shanon Gunawardana, followed by the presentation of the Annual Report summarizing the chapter’s activities and achievements. The Treasurer’s Report was then delivered by Mr. Nimesh Senanayake. The election of new office bearers for the 2024-25 term took place, with Mr. Rushan Fernando appointed as the new chairperson, proposed by Mr. Anjula Ananda and seconded by Mr. Buddhika Sampath. Additionally, Dr. Himal Suraweera was appointed as the new adviser, nominated by Mr. Rushan Fernando and seconded by Mr. Sayura Nemindara. Dr. Suraweera acknowledged the contributions of the former committee, congratulated the newly appointed members, and encouraged them to explore new technical areas and projects. The AGM concluded with the appointment of the remaining office bearers, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership for the upcoming year.
