Codeathon Jr. Makeathon

February 18, 2025 · 3:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Jaffna, University of Jaffna

Description

The Codeathon Jr. Makeathon was designed to provide an immersive learning experience in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) for students from four selected schools. The program aimed to bridge the gap in technological education by offering hands-on exposure to IoT concepts, fostering teamwork, and encouraging problem-solving skills among young learners. To ensure the most enthusiastic and capable students participated, a quiz was conducted at the end of each IoT training session in the respective schools. Five students from each school who demonstrated the best understanding of the concepts were selected to represent their institutions in the final phase of the program. The selected students were invited to the University of Jaffna, where they were given a unique opportunity to work on a complex project under the guidance of experienced volunteers. This phase of the program was designed to push the students beyond theoretical knowledge and into practical application. They were tasked with conceptualizing, designing, and building innovative IoT-based solutions to real-world challenges, utilizing the skills they had acquired during their training sessions. Throughout the event, mentors provided technical guidance and troubleshooting support, ensuring that the students could overcome obstacles and refine their projects efficiently. The environment fostered collaboration and innovation, as participants engaged in discussions, shared ideas, and explored creative solutions. At the conclusion of the program, the completed projects were evaluated by a panel of judges based on criteria such as functionality, innovation, and problem-solving effectiveness. The most successful teams were recognized and awarded for their outstanding contributions. Beyond the competition, the program served as an inspiration for students, motivating them to pursue further education and careers in technology, particularly in the rapidly growing field of IoT. By bringing together talented students, dedicated mentors, and a structured learning experience, the Codeathon Jr. Makeathon successfully nurtured a spirit of innovation and technical excellence among the next generation of tech enthusiasts.
