The Award Ceremony and Annual General Meeting of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa for Term 23/24 was held as follows. Awards Ceremony (5:00 PM Onwards) The event brought together distinguished guests, faculty members, and volunteers to celebrate the remarkable contributions made by individuals throughout the term. The special guests presented were: Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara – Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, University of Moratuwa Dr. Tharaka Samarasinghe - Vice Chairman, IEEE Sri Lanka Section Senior Prof. Sisil Kumarawadu - Former Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, University of Moratuwa. Mr. Kavinga Upul Ekanayake - Treasurer, IEEE Sri Lanka Section Ms. Chanukah Gunawardena - Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding of IFS. Mrs. Dilanie Senevirathne - Associate Lead UI/UX Engineer, Zone 24*7 Mr. Dinuka Madushan - Marketing Executive, Janet Sri Lanka The program began and flowed with lighting the oil lamp, guest addresses, awards and service letter presentations, and entertainment events. The following awards were presented for their exceptional contributions to the student branch. Token of Appreciation for the Branch Counselor - Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara Tokens of Appreciation for the Most Prominent Partners of the Term IFS - Strategic Partner Zone 24*7 - Gold Partner, Mora UXplore 2.0 Janet Sri Lanka - Platinum Partner, Open Week 2024 Chapter/Affinity Group Awards Best Chapter/Affinity Group Project Award - Project MedX by IEEE EMBS Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa Outstanding Chapter/Affinity Group Award - IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa Awards for Emerging Volunteers of the Term Tokens of Appreciation for the Executive Committee, Committee Leads, and Service Letters for the Dedicated Student Branch Members of the Term The award ceremony concluded by acknowledging all the hard work in making the Student Branch a thriving community. Annual General Meeting (7:00 PM onwards) After the welcome remarks, the hosts invited the outgoing executive committee to the head table in the following order. Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara – Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, University of Moratuwa Mr. Senel Ephraims – Chairman (Term 23/24) Mr. Yasith Senarath – Vice Chairman (Term 23/24) Ms. Chathurya Ekanayake – Secretary (Term 23/24) Ms. Malithi Abayadeera – Assistant Secretary (Term 23/24) Mr. Supul Heshan – Treasurer (Term 23/24) Ms. Malinsha Vithanage – Chapter & Affinity Group Coordinator (Term 23/24) Mr. Shehan Liyanage – Webmaster (Term 23/24) The minutes of the previous AGM were presented by Ms. Chathurya Ekanayake (Secretary, Term 23/24), confirmed by Ms. Wageesha Lenmini, and seconded by Ms. Poojani Dhanulya. The Activity Report of the term was reviewed by Mr. Yasith Senarath (Vice Chairman, Term 23/24). The Financial Report was presented by Mr. Supul Heshan (Treasurer, Term 23/24), confirmed by Mr. Malsha Nayanashan, and seconded by Ms. Samadhi Ayodya. The Chairman of term 23/24, Mr. Senel Ephraims, was invited to the stage to conduct the election. The outgoing Executive Committee was officially dissolved by the Chairman, and the election was conducted. Thereafter, the appointed officials were invited to the head table in the following order. The hosts then invited the past Vice Chairman, Mr. Yasith Senarath, to officially announce the new Executive Committees of the following Affiliated Chapters, which are updating in alignment with the AGM of the Student Branch: IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of University of Moratuwa IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter of University of Moratuwa Then, the newly appointed Chairman, Mr. Sanjula Gathsara , delivered his first address, outlining his vision for the term ahead. To conclude the event, the newly appointed Secretary, Ms. Isurika Weerasinghe , delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to all volunteers, faculty members, and guests who contributed to the success of the term. The program was officially concluded at 8:00 PM , marking the beginning of an exciting new term.
