The Field Visit to Yugadhanavi Power Plant , organized by the IEEE PES Chapter of SLIIT on November 8, 2023 , aimed to provide participants with practical exposure to large-scale power generation and energy management systems. This visit enabled students to gain insights into the operational aspects of the Yugadhanavi Power Plant in Kandana , which plays a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s energy sector. The objectives of the visit were to enhance understanding of power plant operations, combined cycle technology, grid integration, and sustainable energy practices , aligning with the PES Chapter’s mission to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry applications. Participants had the opportunity to observe real-time power generation processes, and explore the challenges and advancements in energy production. This experience contributed to fostering a deeper appreciation for power engineering, renewable integration, and the future of sustainable energy solutions.
