Commencement of the meeting The second Executive Committee Meeting of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka for 2025 commenced at 9.15 PM. Welcome & introductions Dr. Prabhani Liyanage, Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka, welcomed the attendees and asked the members who were unable to attend the first meeting and the two new members of the Executive Committee, Ms. Disara Mapalagama (Information Manager) and Ms. Chathurya Ekanayake (Student Representative) to introduce themselves. Preliminaries and announcements by Chair Dr. Prabhani Liyanage discussed plans to collaborate with the National Science Foundation (NSF). She also informed the Executive Committee about an invitation from NSF to attend their Women Scientists’ Forum, organised in celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, which will be attended by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. She also spoke about the possibility of forming a partnership with OrelIT and mentioned that plans are underway to meet with OrelIT representatives to discuss the collaboration. Confirmation of minutes of the previous meeting The minutes of the first Executive Committee Meeting for 2025 held on 31th January was circulated by the Secretary, Ms. Hiruni Hettiarachchi, prior to the meeting. Ms. Shashika Lokuliyana proposed that the minutes were in order, which was seconded by Ms. Pipuni Wijesiri. Presentation of Activity Plan for 2025 with timeline by Chair Dr. Prabhani Liyanage presented the Affinity Group's Activity Plan for 2025 and elaborated on the planned initiatives and their timelines. Discussion and feedback on projects and timeline Ms. Abarnah Kirupananda suggested that WIESymp 2025 be conducted as a conference rather than a research paper symposium. Ms. Gresha Samarakkody added that, if this change is implemented, the project's name would need to be revised accordingly. This was followed by a Q&A session focused on project improvements. Any other matters The Treasurer, Ms. Shashika Lokuliyana, informed the committee that she would proceed with the annual payment for the Affinity Group website domain. Ms. Disara Mapalagama, the Information Manager, was assigned the task of updating the Affinity Group website with the latest project updates and working on some promotional flyers. Adjournment of the meeting The meeting was adjourned at 10.45 PM.
