Step into Industry 3.0 was an impactful event designed to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world, empowering undergraduates with the knowledge and confidence they need as they transition into their careers. Aimed at undergraduate students from 1st to 4th year across Sri Lanka, the event specifically targeted those in computing, engineering, and technology disciplines. The event kicked off with a Main Session, offering valuable insights and industry trends to all participants. Following this, 10 parallel sessions were held, each focusing on specialized job roles and career fields, providing attendees with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about various industries. These sessions were carefully curated to address the evolving demands of the job market and to equip students with the necessary skills and strategies for a successful career launch. With a strong emphasis on career development, networking, and industry engagement, Step into Industry 3.0 was an invaluable platform for students to explore potential career paths, connect with professionals, and learn from experts in the field. It was a significant step toward preparing the next generation of innovators and leaders for the challenges and opportunities of the professional world Industry Visit to Rootcode – An Industry Exposure Initiative under Step Into Industry 3.0 As an industry exposure initiative under Step Into Industry 3.0, an Industry Connect session was successfully conducted through an industry visit to Rootcode HQ on May 8th, 2025, starting from 2:30 PM. This visit was collaboratively organized by IEEE StudPro and IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka Section, specially arranged at the request of the IEEE Student Branch of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The visit offered 35 selected students a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to one of Sri Lanka’s top-tier technology companies, renowned for its innovative software solutions and vibrant work culture. Through interactive discussions, real-time project explorations, and professional insights, participants deepened their understanding of industry practices and career pathways in the tech sector. This initiative aligned seamlessly with the core mission of Step Into Industry 3.0, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, while equipping students with the confidence and clarity to shape their professional futures.
