Introduction WiSTEM is a series of awareness sessions and industry visits aimed at encouraging school girls to explore STEM careers. Organised in collaboration with IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Groups across Sri Lanka, the initiative seeks to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields. The first session was conducted in collaboration with the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa on 7th March at St. Sebastian's Girls' School, Moratuwa, targeting O/L students. Objectives Encourage school girls to explore STEM careers through role models, success stories, and hands-on learning. Address gender disparities by equipping young girls with knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue STEM. Provide school girls with mentorship and guidance related to pursuing careers in STEM. Event Overview The session was conducted in two engaging segments: An informative and motivational segment explaining the importance of STEM education and careers, featuring interactive discussions. Hands-on Spaghetti Building Challenge , aimed at fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Outcomes Through this event, students gained valuable insights into STEM opportunities and were encouraged to pursue their passions without limitations.
