Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in Manufacturing

May 10, 2025 · 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM @ Online event

Description

The upcoming session on “Robotic Process Automation in Manufacturing”, organized by Y2NPro 2025 under IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, will be held on the 10th of May 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM IST, via Zoom. As a continuation of the Robotics in Industry 4.0: Automation and Smart Manufacturing Workshop Series, this session will delve into the integration of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) within manufacturing environments and its growing role in accelerating digital transformation in Industry 4.0. The session will be conducted by Dr. Achala Pallegedara, a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, with expertise in Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, and Data Science. Drawing from his diverse academic and industry experience, Dr. Pallegedara will explore how RPA is being leveraged to automate repetitive, rule-based tasks across the manufacturing value chain—boosting productivity, reducing errors, and enabling human workers to focus on higher-value activities. Participants can expect to gain a deep understanding of how software bots and intelligent automation are streamlining operations such as inventory management, production scheduling, quality inspection, and supply chain coordination. The session will also highlight the synergy between RPA and emerging technologies like IoT, AI, and edge computing, showcasing practical applications and implementation challenges in real-world manufacturing scenarios. An interactive Q&A session will follow the presentation, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker and clarify concepts related to automation strategies and technology adoption in industrial settings. Organized and hosted by IEEE YP Sri Lanka, this session promises to offer valuable insights for professionals and students interested in the future of smart manufacturing and the pivotal role of automation in shaping Industry 4.0.
