Description
SkillBridge'25, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, was a dedicated academic support initiative focused on enhancing the exam readiness of 1st- and 2nd-year undergraduates. Through a structured series of cramming and speed-study sessions led by senior students, the project effectively addressed key academic challenges commonly faced during the early years of university education. Conducted during the Semester 1 study leave period, Phase 1 of the project comprised six subject-specific sessions. These subjects were selected based on student polls and feedback from senior students, ensuring that the sessions targeted the most demanding areas of study. Each session was facilitated by carefully selected senior students who had prior experience with the respective subjects and were able to share practical insights and study strategies. The sessions were conducted online, each lasting between 90 to 120 minutes, and focused on essential concepts, shortcut methods, exam-oriented techniques, and interactive Q&A segments. Supplementary materials such as smart notes and pre-distributed question sets were also provided to support participants in their revision. SkillBridge'25 received strong student engagement and positive feedback, underscoring its success as a timely and effective academic support initiative. In addition to enhancing subject understanding, the project fostered a spirit of collaboration and mentorship, reinforcing IEEE’s commitment to student development and academic excellence.
