Commencement of the meeting The fourth Executive Committee Meeting of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka for 2025 commenced at 9.10 PM. Preliminaries and Announcements by Chair The meeting commenced with a review of updates on various ongoing projects and upcoming events. Confirmation of Minutes of the Previous Meeting The confirmation of minutes of the third Executive Committee Meeting did not take place. Project Updates Global Glow Initial meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 2nd. Confirmed participation from IEEE WIE Section Affinity Groups of Thailand, Singapore, Jamaica, Germany, and Tokyo. Action Item: Finalise the date and agenda for the first Global Glow meeting. CODE WITH WIE Code with WIE 2025 will be officially launched with the theme "Empowering future through innovation." Code with WIE initiation: May 1st, with ideation sessions starting from May 8th. Objective: Aims to increase female participation in STEM. Budget: USD 5,150. Target Audience: 50% female participation and 75% project completion rate. Submitted grant proposals for the project to IEEE Foundation and IEEE WIE Special Fund. Action Items: Share the flyers for the Code with WIE project on the group for feedback. Submit the IEEE WIE special funding proposal for the Code with WIE project. Action Item: Reach out to industry sponsors for the Code with WIE project. International WIE Day Celebrations Requires funding. Potential support from industry sponsors. Open Question: Exploring additional funding opportunities for the event. WiNavigate 15 mentors registered with the program. Discussed plans for collaborative events. The next WiNavigate session will take place collaboratively with Tech Pulse and Steminist Entrepreneur sessions at University of Peradeniya on April 29th. Action Items: Share the media partner connections for the WiNavigate project in the Executive Committee Whatsapp group. Decide on the inclusion of the WiNavigate project as a national project. Tech Pulse The first session of the project focused on cybersecurity took place recently, with Dr. Windhya Rankothge as the speaker. Action Item: Decide on the inclusion of the Tech Pulse project as a national project. Steminist Entrepreneur Action Item: Ensure the Steminist Entrepreneur project focuses on speakers from the STEM field. Power Hour Action Item: Check with Dr. Wageesha if she can take the lead on the Power Hour project. WiSTEM The first session of WiSTEM was organised in collaboration with the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa. Challenges Discussed Limited funding for projects; need to secure more sponsorships and grants. Difficulty in organising WIESymp due to financial constraints and quality concerns. Website Updates Challenge identified: Maintaining and updating the Affinity Group website, including outdated information on IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group. Editorial Activities Challenge identified: Lack of a dedicated newsletter for WIE activities. Financial Updates Current balance: LKR 183,650. Recent transfers for various projects have been made: To the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa for the first session of WiSTEM. To the WePower Sri Lanka National Chapter, the loan that was received from the IEEE Sri Lanka Section was transferred. Any Other Matters Collaboration Discussions IEEE Young Professionals: Mentorship platform discussed but deemed unsuitable due to its business model. IEEE Student Branches: Coordination for WIE awareness sessions. Dialog: Potential collaboration for entrepreneurship sessions. Next Executive Committee meeting: Scheduled for May 17th.
