NetWiz 1.0 – Practical Workshop , is a one-day physical workshop organized by the Communication Society (ComSoc) of the IEEE Student Branch of University of Ruhuna. It was designed to reinforce the theoretical knowledge gained from the NetWiz 1.0-theory workshop by providing practical, hands-on experience. The session was carefully structured to enhance students' ability to understand, simulate, and resolve networking issues, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application Event Objectives and Goals: · Provide practical demonstrations and hands-on activities to reinforce theoretical concepts. · Enhance students' knowledge and prepare them for future academic and professional endeavors in networking. Process Summary The Netwiz 1.0 practical Workshop was held on 05 th April 2025 from 09.30 AM to 12.30 PM at the new computer center of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. It was a successful workshop with 137 participants. The workshop commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Chair of the Communication Society (ComSoc), followed by the introduction of the guest lecturer. The first session focused on utilizing Wireshark software to explore how network protocols function, understand the fundamentals of internet communication, and capture real-time network traffic for analysis etc. The second session involved hands-on experience with Cisco Packet Tracer, guiding participants through the process of building, configuring, and simulating network topologies. The final segment introduced Draw.io, where participants learned to design network diagrams effectively. To reinforce the knowledge acquired throughout the workshop, a 10-minute quiz was conducted. This also served as a tool for gathering participant feedback. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary of the Communication Society. Upon successful completion of both the NetWiz – Theory Workshop and the NetWiz – Practical Workshop, participants are awarded an e-certificate.
