Description
The upcoming one-day physical workshop on “Real-World Applications & Case Studies in Industry 4.0” and "Industrial IoT and Smart Sensors in Robotics", organized by Y2NPro under IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, will be held on 18th May 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM IST, in Colombo. This in-person event is part of the Robotics in Industry 4.0: Automation and Smart Manufacturing Workshop Series and will provide attendees with hands-on exposure to advanced technologies, real-world use cases, and practical insights driving the Industry 4.0 revolution. The workshop will feature two prominent sessions: ๐น Dr. Achala Pallegedara, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, will lead an in-depth exploration into practical applications and case studies across robotics, AI, IoT, and intelligent automation. Drawing on his international research and industry experience, Dr. Pallegedara will showcase real-world implementations and multidisciplinary projects that bridge software systems, embedded platforms, and industrial processes. Attendees will gain insight into how data science, machine learning, and high-performance computing are being leveraged in smart manufacturing environments both locally and globally. ๐น Dr. Nushara Wedasinghe, from the Faculty of Engineering at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, will guide participants through the domain of Industrial IoT (IIoT) and Smart Sensors in Robotics. This session will focus on how sensor networks, edge devices, and IoT platforms enable data-driven decision-making, remote monitoring, and adaptive control in robotic systems. Dr. Wedasinghe will also cover the integration challenges and architectural design principles for IIoT-enabled automation systems within modern factories. This full-day workshop is designed to blend technical depth with application-focused learning. Participants will benefit from a collaborative learning environment, practical demonstrations, and opportunities for hands-on engagement with core Industry 4.0 technologies. A Q&A segment for each session will foster interaction and knowledge exchange between speakers and attendees. Hosted by Y2NPro under IEEE YP Sri Lanka, this workshop offers a valuable opportunity for professionals, researchers, and students to deepen their understanding of how emerging technologies are reshaping industries through innovation, connectivity, and intelligent automation.
