IEEE Orientation Program - Faculty of Engineering Date and Time: March 15, 2025 | 08:00 AM – 10:00 AM Venue: Faculty of Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Organizer: IEEE Student Branch of University of Sri Jayewardenepura Event Description: The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted an orientation programme for students at the Faculty of Engineering. The event was organized to introduce new students to IEEE, its chapters, affinity groups, and the opportunities it offers. The session covered a variety of topics, including: Introduction to IEEE Student Branch, Chapters, and Affinity Groups (WIE, PES, CS, EMBS, IES) Leadership structure and roles within the Student Branch Overview of IEEE membership benefits such as scholarships, industry connections, global recognition, and career support A brief history of the Student Branch, its past events, and achievements Upcoming events and how to get involved Encouragement to join the team as volunteers, participate in competitions, and build meaningful connections The programme also included a thank-you speech, a recap video, and a member enrollment session. Participants were invited to join WhatsApp groups and further engage with IEEE activities. Attendance: New engineering students, IEEE volunteers, and student leaders Outcome: The orientation successfully onboarded new members, increased awareness about IEEE and its benefits, and encouraged participation in upcoming IEEE activities.
