Wisdom Waves 1.0 The IEEE WIE Affinity Group at the University of Ruhuna in collaboration with other IEEE chapters proposes, "Wisdom Waves" is an engaging online webinar series designed to foster insightful discussions on various topics that inspire and educate participants. This initiative fosters chapter collaboration through partnerships and networking while enabling knowledge sharing between graduates, final-year undergraduates and other undergraduate students for mentorship and growth. By addressing key issues and providing valuable guidance, "Wisdom Waves" seeks to create an enriching learning experience for attendees from diverse backgrounds. Each session will highlight a different subject, led by a knowledgeable speaker, to provide a well-rounded learning experience. Session 01: Defend the Future with API Security The second webinar in the Wisdom Waves 1.0 series took place virtually on 25th May 2025 via Zoom , drawing an audience of 48 participants . The topic, “Defend the Future with API Security,” was expertly delivered by Mr. Pasan Abeysekara , who shared vital knowledge on how to protect APIs against modern security threats. This session focused on real-world strategies for securing APIs, offering attendees insights into the OWASP Top 10 , common vulnerabilities, and actionable best practices. Emphasizing practical application, the session helped participants understand how to design more secure systems while maintaining efficient API functionality. It served as a crucial learning opportunity for anyone working in or aspiring to enter the field of secure software development.
