The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter of the University of Jaffna successfully organized its first international webinar on 24th May 2025 via Zoom, titled "From Theory to Practice: Bridging the Gap Between Academic and Industry in Power & Energy" . The session featured Mr. Shaibu Ibrahim , Senior Electrical Engineer at Acciona Energia USA, who shared his extensive industry experience in renewable and thermal power systems. The webinar attracted 94 participants , including students and professionals from over 10 countries , offering diverse perspectives. Mr. Ibrahim discussed practical applications of academic knowledge, career pathways, and insights into large-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects. The session concluded with interactive Q&A and international engagement. Positive feedback praised the speaker's clarity, industry relevance, and the bridge built between theory and practice. Suggestions included future sessions on software tools and industrial automation, with plans to implement these ideas in upcoming events.
