Description
SHECODERess <V6.0> The Hack and Design Show Down was a flagship initiative by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, under the WIE term 2024–2025. The event aimed to inspire female undergraduates by fostering innovation, creativity, and confidence in the fields of technology and design. The competition featured two challenging rounds . Round 1 was a 24-hour online challenge where participants competed remotely in two tasks: system development, where they were required to build a solution for a real-world scenario, and design redesign, where they had to enhance a given design using patterns and design principles. This round tested both technical and creative problem-solving abilities under time pressure. Round 2 was a 10-hour physical showdown. Shortlisted teams advanced to this overnight on-site round, where they worked on new challenges based on fresh guidelines. Teams collaborated in real time, adapting their ideas under pressure while following event-specific criteria. The event included two main tracks: Hack and Design. Participants received mentorship and guidance throughout the competition, and outstanding contributions were recognized with awards. ✨ As a new milestone in SHECODERess history, for the first time, boys were allowed to participate in the Design track , promoting inclusivity and collaborative creativity while still keeping the Hack track exclusively for female undergraduates. More than just a competition, SHECODERess <V6.0> was a celebration of female talent and leadership in technology. It reflected WIE’s ongoing mission to empower, educate, and inspire young women in STEM fields.
