The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa was successfully conducted on December 28, 2024, at 4:30 PM via Zoom . The meeting, chaired by the Outgoing Chairperson, Miss Upeksha Erandi, began with a welcome and an introductory overview of the Chapter's foundations and goals. A key highlight was the address by the newly appointed Chapter Advisor, Eng. Terashmila Lasagani, who emphasized the importance of active member involvement and shared her ambitious vision for the Chapter's future growth. The accountability segment featured the formal presentation of the Financial Report for the 2023/2024 term, which was prepared by the Outgoing Treasurer, Mr. Nilesh Vicknarajah, and presented by the Outgoing Vice-Chairperson, Mr. Tharanga Mawan, followed by a detailed Chapter Activity Report from Mr. Mawan. The core outcome of the AGM was the election and appointment of the new Executive Committee for the term 2024/2025. The new leadership included Ushan Muditha as Chairperson, Avishka Rajapaksha as Vice-Chairperson, Sandaru Dias as Secretary, Nimesh Dilhara as Treasurer, and Lahiruni Malshika as Webmaster. Following the appointments, members provided valuable input, notably suggesting the need for increased collaborative events with industry experts. The incoming Chairperson, Mr. Ushan Muditha, shared his forward-looking vision, assuring members that while successful past events will continue, the new term will prioritize launching significant new initiatives to uplift the overall quality and impact of the Chapter. The meeting concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by the Secretary. Special gratitude was extended to the Former Chapter Advisor, Prof. Lidula Widanagama Arachchige , for her unwavering guidance, and to the entire Outgoing Executive Committee for their dedication and successful tenure. The successful conclusion of the AGM officially marked the transition to the new leadership, establishing a renewed sense of hope and anticipation for the continued support and participation of all members in the upcoming 2024/2025 term.
