In Celebration of IEEE WIE Day💜 Her Story – 2025 is a flagship event organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of the University of Ruhuna, designed to commemorate IEEE WIE Day — a global celebration that recognizes and promotes the achievements of women in engineering, science, and technology. In alignment with the spirit of WIE Day, Her Story is a tribute to the remarkable women who have shaped the landscape of engineering, both within and beyond the university. It is a week-long virtual celebration combining an inspirational digital flyer series and a live webinar , showcasing personal stories, professional accomplishments, and motivational journeys of women engineers affiliated with the IEEE WIE community. Purpose and Vision The initiative seeks to: Celebrate WIE Day by honoring outstanding women in engineering. Highlight role models who have emerged from the University of Ruhuna. Inspire the next generation of female engineers through authentic storytelling and direct engagement. Strengthen the WIE community by fostering connections between past and present members. By aligning with the global IEEE WIE Day celebration, Her Story connects local inspiration to a broader, international movement that champions diversity and inclusion in STEM. 1. Inspirational Flyer Series The digital flyer campaign will run daily leading up to the webinar, featuring: Profiles of Women Engineers – including alumni, faculty, and industry professionals. Career Milestones and Achievements IEEE/WIE Contributions and Impact Words of Encouragement tailored for aspiring women in STEM. Each flyer will be posted across IEEE WIE’s social media platforms and shared through the IEEE Student Branch network, reinforcing visibility and daily engagement. 2. Her Story – Live Webinar (June 14, 2025) In honor of IEEE WIE Day , the live Zoom webinar will feature successful women engineers who will: Share their career journeys and life lessons. Speak about the importance of IEEE WIE in their growth. Discuss overcoming challenges in male-dominated environments. Offer practical advice and mentorship to participants. A live Q&A session followed, allowing direct interaction between students and speakers. Her Story – 2025 is not just an event—it’s a celebration of legacy, leadership, and limitless potential.
