May 18, 2025 · 4:30 AM - 10:30 AM @ Nuwaraeliya, Nu/Gemunu Vidyalaya

Description

Perpetual 5.0 marked the fifth successful installment of the annual community outreach initiative organized by the WIE Affinity Group of the IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT , held in celebration of International Women’s Day. Perpetual 5.0 was held as a two-phased humanitarian initiative focused on extending support to underprivileged schools in rural Sri Lanka. Following the success of previous years, the 2025 edition of the project aimed to empower students through both educational donations and digital literacy, helping bridge the gap in access to resources and knowledge. The initiative was focused on providing aid and awareness training both to rural schools. The event managed to reach 133 students through 2 rural school visits. Phase 1 involved donating supplies and interactive sessions while Phase 2 featured an IT awareness session. The planning and execution of Perpetual 5.0 were carried out in two well-coordinated phases: Phase 1 (May 18, 2025): The team managed the collection, sorting, and transportation of donation items to Gemunu Vidyalaya, Nuwara Eliya. Volunteers conducted motivational sessions and games and distributed the donations during a half-day program that was warmly received by the students and staff. Phase 2 (July 27, 2025): A team of WIE volunteers visited CP/TEL/Kimbulaela Primary School to conduct an IT awareness session. Laptops and educational materials were used to demonstrate basic computer skills, enabling students to gain firsthand experience in operating digital tools Through this initiative, the WIE SBAG reaffirmed its dedication to creating meaningful social impact, particularly in supporting younger generations. The positive reception from both schools, the gratitude expressed by the students and staff, and the enthusiastic involvement of donors and volunteers all contributed to making Perpetual 5.0 a memorable and deeply rewarding experience for everyone involved.
