"NOVA LAUNCH" is a vibrant awareness session organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group 2025/26 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. This event serves as the first spark to introduce the vision, mission, and opportunities offered by WIE to both new and existing members. Understanding the value of gender equity, empowerment, and growth in STEM, NOVA LAUNCH highlights the vital role that WIE plays in developing confident, skilled, and collaborative individuals, encouraging especially young women to reach their full potential. Through engaging guest talk sessions, personal stories, and insights into upcoming initiatives, this session not only informs but also inspires inclusion, leadership, and active participation in the WIE community. The event proudly welcomed participants from various universities across Sri Lanka, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among future engineers and changemakers. The Session featured three esteemed guest speakers: Dr. Sharlene Brown, former Chair of IEEE WIE Jamaica and current Chair of IEEE Region 3 Professional Activities, Dr. Prabhani Liyanage, Chair of IEEE WIE Sri Lanka and Senior Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Ms. Nipuni Wickramarathna, the inaugural Chairwoman of IEEE WIE KDU. Their insights and experiences inspired participants and highlighted the impact of women in engineering and technology. More than just an introduction, NOVA LAUNCH is the beginning of a journey where students discover: How WIE supports members through mentorship, workshops, and events. The power of community and collaboration across all genders. Opportunities for both personal and professional development. With its focus on inclusivity and future-driven leadership, NOVA LAUNCH opens the door to a year of inspiration, innovation, and impact.
