The third session of the IEEE Volunteer Training Series, organized by the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch, was successfully held on June 15, 2025, at 7.00 PM via Zoom under the title “Sponsorship Mastery.” This session aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of IEEE volunteers in the area of sponsorship acquisition and relationship management—an essential component in the successful execution of projects and events. The session covered a range of critical topics, including crafting effective sponsorship proposals, identifying and targeting potential sponsors, initiating and maintaining professional communication, managing event budgets, and avoiding sponsor overlap across different Organizational Units (OUs). The resource person for the session was Mr. Sasanka Weerakoon, Assistant Treasurer of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka and Associate Software Engineer at Aiken Pvt Ltd. Mr. Weerakoon shared his expertise and practical insights with the participants, providing actionable guidance on approaching sponsors with clarity and confidence. The session witnessed active participation from representatives of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, the organizing committee, executive committee members, and student volunteers. It concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, facilitating further engagement and clarification on the topics discussed. This session marked a valuable step toward strengthening the strategic capabilities of volunteers, equipping them with the tools necessary to develop impactful and sustainable partnerships for future initiatives.
