DesignHer 1.0 DesignHer 1.0 is an empowering initiative by the Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of the IEEE Student Branch, University of Ruhuna, is designed to uplift aspiring female designers and developers by equipping them with practical knowledge in, UI/UX design Frontend development Backend development The event consisted of three structured workshops and a female-only competition, fostering creativity, skill development, and hands-on experience. The third and final workshop of DesignHer 1.0 , held on June 18, 2025, at NCC , delivered an in-depth exploration into Back End Development , a critical area for anyone aspiring to become a proficient full-stack developer. This hands-on session was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and real-world skills to build and manage the server-side of modern web applications. Attended by enthusiastic second and third-year engineering students, the workshop bridged theoretical concepts with applied programming techniques, fostering a deeper understanding of how back-end technologies power dynamic websites and applications. Through interactive coding exercises and guided demonstrations, participants gained confidence in working with popular tools and frameworks used by industry professionals today. The workshop also emphasized best practices for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, preparing students to tackle complex development challenges beyond the classroom.
