The “Foundation of Blockchain Technology and the Cardano Ecosystem” workshop was held on May 28, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Old Computer Center, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. Organized by the IEEE Student Branch in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications Society, the session brought together students and blockchain enthusiasts to explore foundational concepts in blockchain and delve into the Cardano ecosystem through practical engagement. The event began with a welcome address by the organizers, highlighting the importance of blockchain in shaping future digital infrastructure. This was followed by an introduction to the session hosts, CoinCeylon and Intersect Sri Lanka, setting the stage for an insightful and technically enriched learning experience. The first part of the session provided participants with a deep dive into blockchain fundamentals, introducing concepts such as decentralization, consensus mechanisms, and smart contracts. Attendees then transitioned into an overview of the Cardano ecosystem, exploring its unique layered architecture, governance model, and use cases in various sectors including finance, education, and supply chain management. A key highlight of the workshop was the hands-on activity segment, where participants analyzed live blockchain transactions.
