The AI Community Talk – April 27, 2025 The IEEE Student Branch of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with YPSL, successfully hosted “The AI Community Talk”, an insightful online session held on April 27, 2025, under the theme “A Step Beyond the Hype.” The session featured Mr. Sachith Gunasekara, a Machine Learning Engineer at Surge Global, who brought clarity to the often misunderstood world of Artificial Intelligence. Participants explored the practical side of AI—going beyond buzzwords to understand its real-world applications, challenges, and future potential. With a mix of technical insights and thought-provoking discussion, the talk empowered attendees to view AI from a grounded, career-oriented perspective, making it an ideal experience for students, tech enthusiasts, and young professionals.
