A special meeting was organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Ruhuna with the lecturers of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering , Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna to discuss IEEE’s contribution to the upcoming Rextro Exhibition held in celebration of the Engineering Faculty’s 25th Anniversary on December 2025 . Recognizing the exhibition as a valuable platform to connect with university students and the wider community, the IEEE Student Branch proposed the establishment of a dedicated IEEE promotional stall during the event. The objective of this meeting was to formally request support from the department and seek approval to host the stall. The proposal highlighted that the stall would showcase the diverse range of activities and projects carried out by the IEEE Student Branch and its affiliated societies, namely the Robotics and Automation Society, Industry Applications Society, Power and Energy Society, Communications Society, Computer Society , and the Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group enhancing the campus life of the undergraduates. The discussion emphasized how this initiative would not only promote IEEE membership and awareness among visitors but also reflect the branch’s active engagement in fostering innovation, technical excellence, and community involvement. The department approved the proposal and appreciated the proactive initiative of the Student Branch in contributing to the success of not only the Rextro Exhibition but also to the University.
