Our industry visit to Insighture was an inspiring and insightful experience that gave us a closer look at how cutting-edge technologies are shaping the future of software development. The visit began with a warm welcome from the Insighture team, setting a friendly and engaging tone for the rest of the day. The first session, "Building Multimodal RAG," was conducted by Pasan Jayawardene, who broke down the concept of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and its evolution into multimodal systems. He explained how combining various data types—like text and images—can significantly enhance the performance and accuracy of AI-driven solutions. His practical insights and clear explanations made complex concepts feel approachable and relevant. In the second session, Anuja Ranwalage delivered a thought-provoking talk on "LLMs for Code and the Future of Software Engineering." He explored how Large Language Models are revolutionizing the way developers write, test, and maintain code. The session offered a glimpse into a future where AI plays a collaborative role in development, amplifying human creativity and efficiency. After the sessions, we enjoyed a refreshing break followed by an engaging networking session, where students had the chance to connect one-on-one with Insighture’s engineers. This open forum allowed us to ask questions, discuss ideas, and gain valuable career insights directly from industry professionals. Overall, the visit was a well-rounded blend of technical learning, real-world exposure, and professional interaction, leaving us inspired and better informed about the future of tech.
