Duothan 5.0 represents Sri Lanka's premier inter-university buildathon, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of NSBM Green University. This groundbreaking event brought together over 150 students from 15+ university teams across the nation for an intensive full-day innovation challenge focused on humanitarian technology solutions. The project achieved a historic milestone by introducing Sri Lanka's first virtual reality (VR) oil lamp, symbolizing the fusion of cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology. Unlike traditional hackathons that focus on rapid ideation, Duothan 5.0 pioneered the "buildathon" concept in Sri Lanka, emphasizing comprehensive solution development with real-world applications. The event fostered technological excellence, inter-university collaboration, and meaningful industry partnerships with leading organizations including IFS and Virtusa as knowledge partners.
