The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa proudly concluded the finals and award ceremony of the Future Innovators Challenge (FInnC) 2025 , the premier inter-university electronics design competition organized by our Student Branch in collaboration with the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Student Branch Chapter. The finals and award ceremony was held on Sunday, the 13th of July 2025 at the Prof. Rubert Peiris Auditorium at the University of Moratuwa. Judging the finalists were Dr. Chathuranga Hettiarachchi , a senior lecturer of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Moratuwa; Mr. Sumedha Rubasinghe , the founder and CEO of Entgra.io; and Mr. Ranjan Kulathunga , Senior Tech Lead - Embedded Systems of Zone24x7. Seven teams were qualified for the finals, which consisted of a one-hour walk-around session followed by dedicated pitches by each finalist team. The panel conducted an in-depth analysis of each submission, focusing on technical depth, creativity, implementation feasibility, market feasibility, and the alignment of the project with real-world needs. The finals were followed by the award ceremony, graced by Mr. Heminda Jayaweera , serial entrepreneur and inventor, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion; along with Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara, the Counsellor of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa. Prizes were awarded under the categories of, Most popular team - awarded to team " Socketburners " Second runner-up - awarded to team " Socketburners " First runner-up - awarded to team " Zypher " Champions - awarded to team " Dyson Sphere " The award ceremony featured an insightful speech by our Chief Guest, Mr. Jayaweera, which included valuable advice for the young inventors and innovators present in the audience. The ceremony was officially concluded by the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Nimeth Wickramarachchi, a co-chairperson of the Future Innovators Challenge for 2025.
