The IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, in collaboration with Amithi Power Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, successfully conducted a CPD Certificate Course on Power System Protection and ETAP® Software from June 26 to July 13, 2025 . This 26-hour blended learning program (18 hours online + 8 hours physical) was designed to equip students and young professionals with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on industry experience in modern power system protection practices. The course featured six online technical sessions covering electrical protection devices, relay configuration, and system coordination using ETAP®, followed by a full-day practical workshop at the Faculty of Engineering, KDU. Over 120 participants joined, including students from multiple universities across Sri Lanka. Five experienced engineers from Amithi Power Consultants served as instructors. Participants gained essential skills in relay settings, fault analysis, and ETAP® simulations—critical competencies for industrial training and future careers. The event received excellent feedback for its industry relevance, practical exposure, and smooth organization. Certificates of completion were awarded jointly by IEEE PES KDU and Amithi Power Consultants. The initiative aligns with IEEE PES’s mission of fostering professional development and promoting sustainable, reliable power systems.
