The IEEE Student Branch of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University successfully organized and conducted a Comprehensive Awareness Session on IEEEXtreme 19.0 on 23rd July 2025 at the FOM 4-1 Classroom. The session was aimed at introducing students to IEEEXtreme, a globally recognized 24-hour online programming competition that brings together undergraduates from around the world to solve complex challenges. With the objective of familiarizing participants with the competition’s structure, procedures, and opportunities, the awareness session served as an important preparatory milestone for the upcoming global contest. During the event, a detailed presentation was delivered to explain the rules, registration process, and overall roadmap of the competition, ensuring that attendees gained a structured and clear understanding of how to effectively take part. Adding further value, Mr. Nuwanadun Kalhara, the past IEEEXtreme 18.0 ambassador, was invited as a guest speaker. He shared his experiences, offered practical insights, and motivated the students to take part confidently, while also addressing key concerns through an interactive Q&A session. The session also emphasized the broader benefits of participating in IEEEXtreme, highlighting not only skill development and problem-solving opportunities but also the international exposure and recognition it brings. At the same time, the event encouraged students to engage more actively with the IEEE Student Branch and underscored the advantages of IEEE membership for professional and technical growth. Overall, the awareness session achieved its goals by equipping participants with the necessary knowledge, guidance, and inspiration to prepare for IEEEXtreme 19.0. With active student engagement and clear strategies for preparation, the event laid a strong foundation for successful participation while further strengthening the presence of the IEEE Student Branch at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in this prestigious global competition.
