The second session of the Career Readiness for the IT Industry workshop series was successfully held on 16th July 2025, attracting over 450 enthusiastic participants via Zoom and YouTube Live. Jointly organized by the IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter and IFS, the session featured Ms. Chanukah Gunawardena, Senior Manager – Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding at Outline, as the keynote speaker. Ms. D.M.Y Siriwardena moderated the event from The Open University of Sri Lanka, who facilitated an engaging and insightful discussion. This session was jointly organized by the IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter and SLAAS Section E3 (Computer Science) with IFS. From IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter, this event was coordinated and organized by Ms. Suresha Perera. Titled “CV Development & LinkedIn Profile Building”, the session focused on empowering participants to present themselves effectively in today’s competitive job market. Ms. Gunawardena shared practical and actionable strategies for crafting standout CVs, avoiding common application mistakes, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles to attract potential recruiters. She emphasized the importance of personal branding and how to build a strong, professional online presence. The workshop included real-world examples, tips for tailoring applications to specific job roles, and strategies for leveraging LinkedIn as a powerful networking platform. Participants were given the opportunity to engage through an interactive Q&A session and received personalized feedback from the speaker. Targeted at undergraduates and recent graduates in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, and related disciplines, the session aimed to equip them with the essential skills needed to navigate the recruitment process with confidence. This successful session marks a significant step in bridging the gap between academia and industry, strengthening the career readiness of Sri Lanka’s next generation of IT professionals.
