The third session of the Career Readiness for the IT Industry workshop series was successfully conducted on 23rd July 2025, featuring valuable insights and an engaging lineup of speakers. Over 400 participants joined via Zoom and YouTube Live, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this initiative, which aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Titled "Exploring Diverse Career Pathways in IT", this session was led by two professionals from IFS: • Ms. Nisansala Dabarera, Software Engineer – Product Training • Mr. Romario Joseph, Manager – Software Engineering, R&D Ms. D.M.Y Siriwardena moderated the session from The Open University of Sri Lanka, who facilitated a vibrant discussion and Q&A.his session was jointly organized by the IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter and SLAAS Section E3 (Computer Science) with IFS. From IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter, this event was coordinated and organized by Ms. Suresha Perera. This session was designed to help students explore the breadth of career opportunities in the IT industry, encompassing software development, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, cloud computing, and project management. The speakers shared real-world insights into what each role entails, the skills required, and practical entry points such as internships, certifications, and networking. Students were also encouraged to reflect on their interests and career goals through interactive segments. Live polls, career mind maps, and a Kahoot quiz kept participants engaged, while the speakers’ personal experiences and industry examples offered valuable guidance on career planning and continuous learning. The target audience comprises undergraduates and recent graduates in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, and related disciplines from universities across Sri Lanka. The session emphasized both technical and non-technical roles, highlighting the importance of soft skills, adaptability, and self-awareness in navigating the evolving tech landscape.
