The Annual General Meeting of the IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University for the year 2025/2026 was held on the 8th of July 2025. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thushara Weerawadane, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, KDU. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Samiru Gayan, Vice Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Sri Lanka Chapter. The AGM was further honored by the presence of Heads of Departments, senior lecturers, academic staff, members of the past committee, and students, marking a significant gathering that celebrated leadership, progress, and the chapter’s future initiatives. The event recorded a participation of approximately 150 attendees. The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing wisdom and new beginnings. This was followed by a display of cultural vibrancy and youthful talent, including a graceful pooja dance and entertainment performances by undergraduates of the Faculty of Engineering. A defining moment of the AGM was the appointment of the new Executive Committee and Team Leads for 2025/2026, who were entrusted with carrying forward the vision and mission of ComSoc KDU for the year ahead. The occasion also served to recognize and appreciate the valuable contributions of the outgoing committee, whose efforts laid the foundation for continued growth and success.
