Description

IEEE ComSoc KDU organized AeroNex, a field visit to the Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana, providing undergraduates with valuable industry exposure in the fields of telecommunications and aviation. The program was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 (25th August 2025, 12:30 PM onwards): The first-ever field visit for Intake 42 ET undergraduates, with 33 participants, accompanied by Maj. D.M.S.S. Delgamuwa, Ms. Sachetana Ranasinghe, Ms. Kithma Vidanapathirana, and committee members. Phase 2 (26th August 2025, 12:30 PM onwards): Organized for Intakes 41 and 40 ET undergraduates, with 32 participants, accompanied by committee members. During both phases, students visited the Area Control Center, Air Traffic Control Tower, and ATM Server Room . With over 60 participants in total, the field visit successfully provided firsthand exposure to the integration of telecommunications within aviation operations.
