This session was conducted as Phase 02 of the IEEE Student Branch initiative aimed at enhancing students’ academic and professional skills. The session focused on the fascinating domain of Prompt Engineering, exploring both its theoretical foundations and practical applications in real-world scenarios. Two distinguished speakers, both proud KDU alumni currently excelling in the industry, led the session and offered participants valuable insights from both academic and professional perspectives. The discussion covered essential areas such as understanding what Prompt Engineering is, its role in building AI agents, and its versatility across different domains, including creative writing, analytical problem-solving, and technical applications. Participants also gained exposure to best practices and security measures such as Few-Shot, Chain-of-Thought, and Role-Based prompting, along with strategies to mitigate vulnerabilities like Prompt Injection. The session concluded with an introduction to the future of Prompt Engineering through emerging frameworks such as DSPy, emphasizing the shift from manual prompt crafting to systematic and scalable prompt design. Overall, it served as an engaging and informative experience that successfully bridged academic understanding with practical AI advancements.
