The first day of MERCon 2025 commenced with the Opening Ceremony , followed by the Keynote Speech by Prof. Sarath Perera on “Connection of Renewable Energy Sources to Electricity Grids: Some Australian Experiences” at the Civil Engineering Auditorium of the University of Moratuwa. The morning featured multiple parallel technical paper presentation sessions across six venues, covering structural, transportation, construction, environmental, textile, and computing domains. In the afternoon, participants engaged in five specialized workshops: Remote Sensing for Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Hands-On 5G: Building and Testing a Stand-Alone 5G Network TinyML: A Compact Revolution in Engineering AI Signal Processing for Audio and Biomedical Applications Integrated Circuit Design – Digital and Analog Perspectives. The day showcased MERCon’s commitment to bridging cutting-edge research with practical innovation, setting a strong tone for the conference.
