Workshop 2 of Innovate with Ballerina 2025 , organized by the IEEE Student Branch and the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with WSO2 , was successfully held on 11th of August 2025. The workshop was focused on exploring the AI capabilities of the Ballerina programming language, giving participants an understanding of how artificial intelligence can be integrated into real-world software solutions. This workshop provided deep insights into: How Ballerina can be used to build AI-powered, data-driven applications. Demonstrations of applying AI concepts with Ballerina in real-world scenarios. Best practices for combining AI features with backend development to deliver impactful and scalable solutions. The session was conducted by Mr. Sasindu Alahakoon, Senior Software Engineer at WSO2 , who shared his expertise and knowledge through demonstrations and guided participants on how to effectively leverage AI within their projects. By the end of the session, participants gained clarity on how AI can transform the way applications are developed with Ballerina, and how these features can be applied in innovative ways to solve real-world problems.
