Day 2 focused on Biological Databases, introducing participants to the major digital resources used to store, organize, and retrieve large volumes of biological data. The session explained the different types of databases and demonstrated practical navigation of widely used platforms such as NCBI, UniProt, RCSB PDB, and TAIR. Participants learned to identify and download nucleotide and protein sequences, understand common sequence formats like FASTA and GenBank, and explore 3D molecular structures. The session also covered performing basic BLAST searches to find sequence similarities and interpret key parameters such as E-value and conserved domains.
