The SLAIC Session 2 part II, held on May 11th, was led by Mr. Nisal Mihiranga, the Head of AI and Data Science at Zone24x7. His session shifted the focus to the topic of fine-tuning LLMs. He explained what fine-tuning means in the context of AI models and why it is a critical step when adapting LLMs for specific domains or improving their performance in specialized tasks. Mr. Mihiranga also helped participants understand the decision-making process around when to fine-tune a model versus when to use a pre-trained, out-of-the-box solution. The session included a live demonstration of the fine-tuning process and concluded with a Q&A, where participants received detailed answers to their questions, enriching the learning experience. Overall, Session 2 of SLAIC 2025 delivered immense value to participants by making complex AI concepts both accessible and applicable through expert-led discussions and real-world demonstrations.
