The first workshop of the AlgoArena: Mobile App Development Competition - organised by the Leo Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in partnership with the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura - was held on 5th October 2025 at 8:00 p.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Suresh Michael Peiris , Co-Founder of Infowaves and Articom, and Community Lead at GDG Sri Lanka. This workshop focused on three core pillars of modern application development: APIs, databases, and cloud integration. Mr. Peiris provided a comprehensive introduction to designing and consuming APIs, managing data effectively through database systems, and integrating cloud services to build scalable and reliable applications. As the opening session of the AlgoArena workshop series, this event equipped participants with essential technical knowledge required for their competition journey. It strengthened their understanding of real-world development workflows and prepared them for building mobile applications aligned with industry standards.
