Description

RUSLXtreme 2.0, the yearly hackathon organized by the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, took place successfully for the second year in a row. It ran from 4:00 AM on October 26 to 6:00 AM on October 27, 2025. The event was held at the CS Laboratory and IT Department premises within the Faculty of Applied Sciences. It brought together 70 participants, including both committee members and competing delegates. The event benefited from strong partnerships, with WSO2 serving as the Gold Sponsor and Webinnovo Tech (Pvt) Ltd as the Bronze Partner. This collaboration provided a professional and industry-focused experience. In line with IEEE Young Professionals’ goals, RUSLXtreme 2.0 created a platform for skill development, innovation, and networking. Participants worked on real-world problems under strict time limits, which encouraged them to design practical and tech-based solutions. The competition was enhanced by specialized proctors and industry mentors who offered hands-on support, technical advice, and strategic feedback throughout the hackathon. The event also helped improve important skills such as problem-solving, time management, teamwork, and rapid prototyping. Unique activities like OBT-style teamwork sessions and fun sing-along breaks fostered a positive and collaborative atmosphere. RUSLXtreme 2.0 also focused on career readiness through LinkedIn updates, interactions with industry professionals, and insights into expectations typically found in tech workplaces. This contributed to the participants’ career growth. By bringing together students from various departments, the event encouraged connections across disciplines and built strong peer networks. RUSLXtreme 2.0 established itself as a key IEEE initiative that inspires innovation, collaboration, and prepares talent for the future.
