Description

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter, University of Peradeniya, was held on July 8, 2025 in physical from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with over 40 members in attendance at DEEE Seminar Room of the University of Peradeniya. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the outgoing chair, Mr. Rushan Fernando, followed by the presentation of the Annual Report summarizing the chapter’s activities and achievements. The Treasurer’s Report was then delivered by Mr. Sayura Nemindara. The election of new office bearers for the 2025-26 term took place, with Mr. Janidu Deshan appointed as the new chairperson, proposed by Mr. Yasiru Harinda and seconded by Mr. Bhagya Pranama. Additionally, Dr. Himal Suraweera was appointed as the new adviser, nominated by Mr. Rushan Fernando and seconded by Mr. Janidu Deshan. Dr. Suraweera acknowledged the contributions of the former committee, congratulated the newly appointed members, and encouraged them to explore new technical areas and projects. The AGM concluded with the appointment of the remaining office bearers, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership for the upcoming year.
