IEEE STUDENT BRANCH OF SLTC – NOVEMBER 2025 MEETING SUMMARY

November 29, 2025 at 3:30 PM - December 1, 2025 at 5:30 PM @ Online event

Description

The monthly meeting for November 2025 highlighted a period of intense activity and strong collaborative effort across the Student Branch and all sub-units, as teams continued executing major projects scheduled for the final quarter of the year. The Student Branch played a central role this month, with its primary focus directed toward Path2Pro, an online professional development session organized in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka. Preparations reached their final stages as the committee coordinated speakers, handled online logistics, and promoted the event among undergraduates to ensure maximum impact. Alongside this, the SB successfully contributed to the IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka Provincial Competition 2025, also conducted with the support of IEEE Young Professionals. This round featured a pitch-deck competition where young innovators showcased their ideas, and SB members managed the judging process, coordination, and overall event flow, making it one of the key highlights of November. The Industry Applications Society (IAS) Student Branch Chapter emphasized its ongoing work on FORGE, an upcoming physical collaborative session being planned together with the IAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter. Discussions in November focused on shaping the structure of the initiative, confirming potential resource persons, and identifying suitable venues, with the shared goal of establishing a strong technical and professional exchange platform between the two chapters. The Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group reported the successful completion of the first session of WiSTEM, which received positive feedback from participants for its focus on empowering women in STEM. Building on this momentum, WIE has already begun preparations for the second session. Meetings centered around refining the program structure and exploring potential speakers to ensure continuity and deeper engagement in the upcoming phase. The Computer Society (CS) Student Branch Chapter also shared significant updates regarding their preparations for the CS Anniversary Celebration. Early planning discussions were underway regarding the event format and content, including potential workshops and guest sessions. In anticipation of the anniversary, CS conducted several pre-event fundraising initiatives throughout the month, which were successfully executed and contributed to strengthening their budget for future activities. Overall, the November 2025 meeting reflected coordinated progress, strong partnerships, and forward momentum across all sub-units. With major events like Path2Pro, the INSL Provincial Competition, WiSTEM, FORGE, and the CS Anniversary in motion, the month demonstrated the collective commitment of the Student Branch towards professional development, technical growth, and community engagement as the year draws to a close.
