VisionFusion Chapter 2 - BugHunt was an interactive and practical hands-on session centered around the Software Engineering field. The event was collaboratively organized by IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) together with the Department of Computer Science and Informatics, Uva Wellassa University . The session primarily targeted 2nd year and 3rd year undergraduates, aiming to strengthen their practical understanding of software engineering and debugging. However, students from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years participated enthusiastically, creating an engaging and collaborative learning atmosphere. The speaker for the event was Ms. Diluni Peris , Software Engineer at Wiley Global Technology Pvt. Ltd. She provided an insightful overview of the software engineering field, covering essential areas such as: Core skills required to become a successful software engineer A clear roadmap for undergraduates to follow in the tech industry Real world insights into development workflows, debugging, and problem solving Her hands-on guidance allowed students to experience software engineering practices in action while understanding how to develop the right mindset and skillset for the industry. BugHunt effectively enhanced students' technical capabilities, improved their understanding of the software engineering career path, and bridged the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. The event empowered undergraduates to take confident steps forward in pursuing careers in software engineering and related fields.
