Vision Fusion Chapter 3 – RoadtoRole was a comprehensive career-development session collaboratively organized by IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) together with the Department of Computer Science and Informatics, Uva Wellassa University . A professional team from OMOBIO (Pvt) Ltd. visited the university to deliver a series of insightful sessions covering multiple career paths in the IT industry. The event was open to 1st year to 4th year students, with participation from all academic levels, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. The resource persons conducted detailed sessions on several key IT roles, including: Business Analyst Software Engineer Quality Assurance Engineer Project Manager For each of these career paths, the speakers provided clear explanations on: Industry roadmaps – how students can progress from beginner level to professional roles Essential skills – both technical and soft skills needed to succeed in each field Core responsibilities – what each role involves in real-world industry settings Career expectations – insights into teamwork, processes, and day-to-day workflows Additionally, the team delivered a valuable session on CV building, explaining how to structure an effective CV, common mistakes to avoid, and key points recruiters look for. They also conducted CV reviews, giving personalized feedback to several students to enhance their professional readiness. RoadtoRole successfully empowered undergraduates by providing clarity on diverse IT career pathways, improving their understanding of industry expectations, and equipping them with knowledge to plan their future roles with confidence.
